Best fun on two wheels

Some of the best fun I’ve had on two wheels!

Welcoming cycling community

Common Empire is a great group of individuals creating a welcoming cycling community in Ottawa and Gatineau. Their Friday mornings Rise & Ride is a great casual group ride, always ending at a coffee shop. The Weekly Wednesday in Gatineau Park will give you a bit more of a workout if that is what you’re looking for. They have an active online Slack group where you can ask questions and see if anyone is going for a ride. If you’re looking for a friendly group of people to ride with, I recommend that you find them on Strava. Oh, and they post some great pictures of the rides on Instagram.

Camaraderie among all cyclists

Great cycling club that is actively looking to grow the sport in the area and create camaraderie among all cyclists.

An inclusive club

An inclusive club that enables experienced cyclists and newer cyclists to come together and meet a community of like minded riders who are ready to have a great time and push each other to become better cyclists. Oh and they take great pictures to document the ride!

Great initiative

Common Empire is a great initiative and fills a void in the Ottawa area riding scene. They are extremely inclusive and friendly, welcoming members of all abilities. The club is well organized via their Slack channel (team notices, group rides, member interaction, picture sharing, etc.). I would recommend this group to both new and experienced cyclists alike.

They are encouraging

Hi! I joined this group at the very beginning of July. There are so many aspects to this group of people that I enjoy – especially being VERY new to the sport: They are encouraging, there is a balance between easier (chill) rides, tough speed searching rides, they offer a very social ride to meet and connect with people in your area and long adventure rides. In one month, in arguably our generation’s toughest time to be alive; I have made new friends, improved my fitness and skill level immensely all within a low commitment platform that allows me to select or deselect very easily what I want to participate in. CE has been the best thing to happen to me this year. If you’re a cyclist( new or avid) looking to ride/connect with other people join the group, find out what’s going on and come out for a ride. That’s what I did and I haven’t stopped since.

Most welcoming group

I’ve been road biking for many years but have never been part of a club before. Common Empire has been the most welcoming group of people I’ve ever met in the cycling community. I’ve met so many great people through CE and have made so many great friends. I’m so grateful to be able to be part of the weekly women’s ride.

A great bunch

A great bunch of really nice people, just incredibly warm and passionate cyclists getting out to have fun riding bikes. Group rides are just wonderfully simple: chill relaxed well organized and fun. CE Slack channel is great for getting in touch with members and tons of photos shared too. I’ve really had a blast on my rides so far and I am looking forward to riding many many! more with so many frequent planned club as well as pickup rides.

Really nice group rides!

Really nice group rides! Have joined about 5 of them. Recommend the 6am group rides on Friday starting at the war museum, nice pace and good opportunity to get to know other riders and have a nice networking time at Little Victories in The Glebe
